TASTING NOTES
Our Hillside Primitivo displays a graceful ruby hue and enticing aromas of black cherry and delicate white spice. On the palate, earthy undertones of wet clay and forest floor emerge, lending depth and complexity. Layers of ripe Bing cherry and plum unfold beautifully, supported by a well-integrated tannic structure that promises excellent aging potential.
PRODUCTION NOTES
These grapes come from the top of the hillside in our vineyard, our favorite location in the block. The grapes were grown on our estate Coble Ranch Vineyard, located in the Winters HIghlands AVA. We use the heritage Primitivo Clone in our Zinfandel block, which produces a lighter, more refined fruit profile than its counterparts. After the grapes were harvested and sorted they were fermented in small lots, then pressed in our traditional basket press. Once pressed, the wine was aged for 10 months in one and twice used French Oak barrels.
