This classic Rioja blend of Coble Ranch Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon is a tribute to our Spanish heritage. Fénix - Spanish for phoenix - is named in honor of Tempranillo's early ripening, giving rise to a new harvest season.
TASTING NOTES This classic Rioja blend opens with a vibrant rush of black cherry and tart cranberry, lifted by earthy undertones that whisper of sunbaked soil and aged barrels. The palate is silk-wrapped and seamless, as bright red fruits—cranberry, cherry, and a touch of pomegranate—unfold in vivid harmony. Fine-grained tannins gradually emerge, lending quiet structure and depth. As the finish lingers, a bold, savory note of red apple skin mingles with delicate spice, hinting at the wine’s age-worthy potential and leaving a lasting, refined impression.
PRODUCTION NOTES Our Tempranillo is located at the highest elevation on the Coble Ranch Vineyard. The Tempranillo bock consists of two different soil series, allowing for minerality and richness to be characterized in the finished wine. It was harvested in three lots and fermented in bins before being pressed in our traditional basket press. Once pressed, we aged the Tempranillo in twice used French oak barrels for 19 months. Our winemaker selected her favorite three barrels to blend with one barrel of beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon.
